Garden at Bailbrook Lane, Batheaston
This area had been roughly paved over a deep concrete base (foundations of former farm buildings), and had a grass bank and narrow border to the rear of the terrace.
The clients wanted a contemporary Mediterranean garden in line with the interior of the house, and the situation i.e. south facing with lovely views of the Limpley Stoke and Bath valleys.
The contractor had to excavate tons of concrete in order to make growing room under the new raised beds. The terraced area was then levelled to create a large terrace of Indian sandstone paving with rendered raised beds and stone copings. A rubble stone wall makes the backdrop and retaining wall for the terrace above. Water falls from a slate tipping stone in a single sheet into the raised pool below. The raised beds and pool edges are all at a height to use as additional seating.
The result is a clean lined terrace with a Mediterranean feel with its Italian Olive trees and silver and blue themed planting.
“Thank you for all you have done towards our ending up with a super garden. We really like both the design and the planting…” Harry & Brigid M
